Welcome to our Scout Group.
St Mary Gillingham Scout Group is a non-profit organisation and a registered charity, number 1023375.
What do we do? We have fun! We take part in activities indoors and outside, visit places of interest and welcome visitors to our group.
“Parents say Scouting gives their children more confidence, responsibility, a broader set of friends, a chance to pursue things they might not get to do otherwise, adventure and an extended family”.
We have two Beaver Colonies:
Sioux Beavers meet on a Thursday 6.00 - 7.00 pm.
Chippewa Beavers meet on a Friday 6.00 - 7.00 pm.
Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends and taking part in many fun activities outdoors and inside. Outdoor fun can include torch nights, vet visits and pond dipping. Inside activities can include arts and crafts, drama and games.
Beavers can also join in with district activities such as St George’s Day Parade, football tournaments, camps and hikes.
We have two Cub Packs:
Mowgli Cubs meet on a Monday 7.00 - 8.30 pm.
Kim Cubs meet on a Tuesday 7.00 - 8.30 pm.
Cubs have a lot of fun and take part in lots of activities from night hikes and treasure hunts, creating and playing lots of games and working towards many badges. We also take part in District activities such as camps, hikes and fun days.
When you join Cubs, you’ll be introduced to lots of new activities.
Completing Challenge Awards lets you do more, learn more and be more. See what’s on offer and start your journey to the top.
Scouts meet on a Friday from 7.30 - 9.15 pm.
Scout Troops are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities to find out about the world in which they live, to encourage them to know their own abilities, understand the importance of keeping fit and help develop creative talent and explore their own values and personal attitudes.
Being outdoors is important providing opportunities to enjoy traditional Scouting skills, such as camping survival and cooking as well as adventurous activities.
Scouting is about being in a team with friends, participating fully in the adventure and opportunities of life.
Explorers Meet on Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:30 pm
Try more. See more. Do more. At Explorers, you’ll stand on your own two feet, and make memories to last a lifetime.
When you join Explorers, you’ll be introduced to lots of new activities, people and things.
Explorers start small but think big, always challenging themselves to do more and be more. It all starts with an award.
Master something you love, or try something shiny and new. If it spurs you on or stirs your interest, we’ve probably got a badge for it.
