A Scout camp offers a unique chance for your child to develop life skills that the modern age is unlikely to provide and to gain in self confidence, by trying new and exiting things in a safe environment.
This year we are holding our annual Summer Camp at The DORET County Camp Site of Buddens near Warham. This is the County Camp ground and offers excellent facilities as well as activities for all abilities. We will be using their tented village, offering superb communal cooking and wet weather protection.
This camp is sutable for all ages and is open to Cub Scout and Scouts of St Mary Gillingham on a first come first served basis; there 36 places available.
The camp starts in the afternoon of Saturday 3rd August 2019 and finishes on Friday 9th August before noon. Members are to be dropped off and picked up from Buddens.
We hope to run activities including:
Cannoe / Kayak
We will also have alternative activities including nature searches, crafts, quizzes, fire lighting, backwoods cooking and, for the older Scouts, we will have axe and knife skills. We also plan to have a trip out to the Tank Museum. We will have evening activities such as social time, camp fires and of course traditional Scout songs and stunts.
Your child will be accommodated with others from our Scout group in small groups 4 sharing a bell tent. There will be central catering consisting of three meals every full day plus access to food and drink at most other times.
